Volvo sales up 10% in April
In April, electrified Recharge models with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain accounted for 40% of all cars sold by Volvo worldwide. In this case, fully electric vehicles claimed a 17% share of sales. In the period from January to April, Volvo sold 214,914 vehicles, a year-on-year sales increase of 10%.
Performance was particularly strong in Europe and China
.A total of 20,804 vehicles were sold in Europe in April. This represents a 5% increase compared to the previous year. Recharge models accounted for 63% of total sales in the region.
In China, there was a 46% increase in sales compared to April last year with sales of 12,543 vehicles.
Sales of the Recharge series saw an 86% increase, accounting for 10% of Volvo's total sales in China.
In the U.S. during April, when 9,611 vehicles were sold, sales were down by 4%. Recharge models accounted for 31% of total sales in this region.
The XC60 is the best-selling model
In April, the Volvo XC60 was the best-selling model with a total of 16,658 units sold in the period (2022: 14,952), followed by the Volvo XC40 with a total of 13,740 units sold (2022: 13,876) and the Volvo XC90 with a total of 8,179 units sold (2022: 8,208).
For the full year 2022, Volvo Car Group achieved an operating profit (EBIT) of SEK 22.3 billion. Revenues in 2022 amounted to 330.1 billion Swedish kronor, with a total of 615,121 vehicles sold globally.
