Volvo sales up 10% in October
The company sold a total of 569,019 vehicles from January to October 2023, an increase of 18% compared to the same period in 2022.
In October, electrified Volvo Recharge models with all-electric or plug-in hybrid powertrains accounted for 36% of all cars sold by Volvo Cars worldwide. Sales of fully electric cars grew by 29% year-on-year, accounting for 18% of the brand's total sales, up from 12% in October 2022.
In Europe alone, sales rose to 24,892 vehicles, up 13% from last October. In this region, Recharge electrified vehicles accounted for 55% of total sales in that month.
October sales of Volvo vehicles in the U.S. were up 19% year-on-year with a total of 11,296 vehicles sold. In October, the U.S. saw a 49% increase in sales of all-electric vehicles, with Recharge models taking a 27% share of all Volvo vehicles sold.
The sales curve in China remained flat in October compared to this month last year, with a total of 15,041 vehicles sold. However, sales of Recharge cars were up by 27%.
In October, the Volvo XC60 became the brand's best-selling model with a total of 20,212 (2022: 17,531) sold, followed by the Volvo XC40, which sold a total of 17,022 (2022: 14,883), and the Volvo XC90 with 7,961 (2022: 7,651) sold.
